Managing Director

Location: Remote (anywhere in the world, ability to work fully remotely)

Fix the Status Quo is an innovative startup that is passionate about driving radical change in society. Our vision is to create a progressive, feminist, anti-racist, and sustainable world. We have developed a powerful opensource online campaigning tool called Proca, which aims to make online activism easier and more impactful. Since we started 3 years ago, we have empowered more than 350 progressive organisations to drive real-world impact and foster a diverse online community of change-makers, who took more than 5 million online actions in 40 languages.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Director to join our team and help lead Fix the Status Quo to new heights. As our Managing Director, you will collaborate closely with Xavier, our current Director and co-founder, to co-create the long-term vision of the company. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial feasibility and operational success of our organization, overseeing day-to-day operations and a small multicultural team, and fostering strong relationships with clients and contractors. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in society by driving progressive change through technology-enabled campaigns.

A Day in the Life of a Managing Director

Your day begins with a short stand up with your team on Zoom. You agree on the priorities for the day and week, divide tasks and focus on removing blockers. After the stand up, you take an hour to prepare for a meeting with the company founder and a prospective funder, during which you give a short presentation about Proca and its community of NGOs. Later, you check on the budget, exchange emails with the accountant to ensure all invoices are issued on time, and have a quick chat with our legal counsel about a new contract we’re about to sign with a new big client. After lunch, you check on the progress of ongoing projects, and chat on Signal to the coordinator of a coalition campaign that’s about to launch using Proca, to ensure alignment on timelines and deliverables. In the afternoon you might join another quick zoom meeting with a colleague to discuss a prospective campaign and feature development, or send a progress update to a large client.
