Email confirmation option

Email confirmation is an important part of engaging with your supporters. It helps ensure that actions are genuine, that consent is explicit, and that your supporters receive the right information. Our email system can handle everything from verifying actions to confirming newsletter subscriptions, or simply sending a thank-you message.

We offer a set of standardized, multilingual email confirmation options, and can also customize them to fit the specific needs of your organization.

Keep in mind that while email confirmation improves credibility and accuracy, it can slightly reduce the number of completed actions. That’s why it’s important to choose the right method—both on the form (widget) and in the email. We’re here to guide you in picking the approach that works best for your campaign.

1. Action confirmation

Purpose: make sure each email is valid.

  • Email contains one button → “Confirm email”.
  • If the supporter doesn’t click → the action is not counted.
Use Action confirmation if accuracy is critical (petitions, consultations with MPs).

2. Action confirmation and opt-in confirmation

Purpose: confirm action or confirm action and newsletter subscription.

  • The email contains two buttons:
    • “Confirm my action and subscribe to the newsletter.”
    • “Confirm my action”
  • Action is valid if the supporter clicks either button.
  • Newsletter opt-in is valid only if they click the newsletter button.
  • If the supporter doesn’t click → the action is not counted.
Use Confirm action + DOI if you need both accurate actions and newsletter confirmation. It is usually used if there is no GDPR on a widget.

3. Confirm newsletter subscription – DOI (double opt-in)

Purpose: action goes through without confirmation, but newsletter subscription requires confirmation.

  • Email contains one button → “Subscribe to newsletter”.
  • It is sent only to supporters who opted in on a form (widget).
  • Clicking it adds them to your mailing list.
  • If they don’t click → the action is counted, but they won’t be subscribed.
Use DOI only if you want to grow your list with explicit consent and comply with legal requirements in certain countries.

4. Thank-you email (no confirmation)

Purpose: acknowledge the supporter, without requiring a click.

  • Email has no buttons, only a thank-you note and a call to share the campaign.
  • Action is counted (accepted immediately).
  • Works well if you don’t need confirmation, but still want engagement.
Use Thank-you if you want the smoothest user experience

5. Thank-you + DOI

Purpose: everyone gets an email, but only newsletter subscribers need to confirm.

  • Action is counted (accepted immediately).
  • For opt-ins → email has one button → “Confirm subscription”.
  • For non-opt-ins → email has no button (just a thank-you message and a call to share).

Extra: Rejection links

  • In DOI and thank-you emails, you can also include a reject action URL.
  • The URL revokes the auto-confirmed action.
